HISTORY:
British Philospher John Locke wrote about the limitations of the powers of the British Crown in the late 1600's, in regards to a series of conflicts between Parliament and the Crown during that time period.
Locke wrote "...where the body of the people, or any single man, is deprived of their right... and have no appeal on earth, then they have a liberty to appeal to heaven..."
This writing became inspirational to the American colonists during the 1760's and 1770's, and ultimately inspired the "Pine Tree Flag" sometimes referred to as the "Appeal to Heaven" revolutionary war flag. Incredible bravery these colonists had to fight for freedom against tyranny!! So grateful for their sacrifices, and proud to hold these values true today.
